Photo of Chris has been a registered member of the MHSAA umpires for ten years now. We have been lucky enough to have him as one of our top umpires for the past eight seasons in the SCS MABL. Chris gives a lot of his personal time to help make sure we have excellent umpiring and he will routinely umpire five or more games a week. Chris is a regular member of the umpiring crew in our playoffs and in our all-star game as well. We can always count on Chris to come out and give us a fair honest called game and make sure that we are always following the rules. Chris has a great attitude behind the plate or in the field. He is the friendly umpire who if you approach with a valid question he will discuss it with you as long as you are being rational. Chris is also a former player in the SCS MABL. He spent one season playing in the fall as an outfielder and first baseman for the Red Sox. His shining moment was a wicked bunt he put over the third baseman for a clean line drive single, or so it says in the book. When asked about what he likes most about being an umpire Chris stated, "The love of the game. I love Baseball. To me it is the greatest game in the world. Since I don't play anymore, being an umpire is my way of staying around the game that I love on a personal level. Just like ball players that form that camaraderie, we as umpires have that camaraderie as well. When I work with someone who I am comfortable working with, we can make the worst played games fun between the two of us just because of our relationship on the field.” Asked for a few of his best memories from the SCS MABL Chris came up with two that stood out. First was calling a game pitched by former MLB Cy Young winner Pat Hentgen, second was the opportunity to call his first championship series back in 2008 between the SCS Red Sox and SCS Marlins.P
